On May 24, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of Cuban medical cooperation, health experts paid tribute to Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, defender of the internationalist, humanist and solidarity ideals of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro.
In a ceremony at the Central Unit for Medical Cooperation (UCCM), they also highlighted the work of the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, as a true continuator of the internationalist and solidarity work for social justice of the Cuban Revolution.
Likewise, on behalf of those who have carried out and are carrying out missions abroad, a letter was sent by professionals from the Algerian Medical Brigade to the commander of the rebel army, José Ramón Machado Ventura, who was Minister of Health and organizer of the brigade who initiated the Cuban medical cooperation.

Ulises Guilarte de Nacimiento, Member of the Politburo and Secretary General of the Central de Trabajadores de Cuba, presented the UCCM, an institution with meritorious work in the field of Humanism and Solidarity, with the 80th Anniversary Seal.

In the history of Cuban medical cooperation, more than 605,000 health workers have been deployed in 165 countries, reaching remote places, mountains and places with very low or high temperatures to bring relief of pain, hope and despair and life to millions of people in need.
He pointed out that the collaborators have influenced the health situation of other nations in order to improve the indicators and contribute to the quality of life of these peoples, as evidenced by the more than two thousand 200 million cases registered and the more than 15 million surgical interventions performed and the nine million lives saved.

All of these figures, said the deputy minister, are people with life stories shaped by Cuba.
On this 60th anniversary, all the staff who have accomplished their missions, those who are in this beautiful task today and those who are making this dream come true day by day, receive the Party’s most sincere congratulations and appreciation, to the Government, the Ministry of Public Health and to all Cubans who see you as heroes of these difficult times.
