News about Cubans in Mexico is often linked to illegal migration to the United States, but some have lost their lives in traffic accidents in that country.

In August 2022, several Cubans died in an accident in Puebla, Mexico. At that time, a Chevrolet Suburban truck with the license plate DNY757D coming from the state of Chiapas overturned on a federal highway.

In March of the same year, three other Cubans, including a mother and her 12-year-old daughter, died in another car accident on a highway in the southern state of Veracruz.
