Cuban citizens from the United States can enter the Dominican Republic as tourists even if they have an expired passport, the authorities of that country said.

They must also demonstrate permanent residency or legal capacity to reside in the United States.

The resolution will come into force on April 1 of this year 2022 and takes into account that the measures taken by the US to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic have resulted in many people not being able to renew their passports in their respective countries and consulates. highlights the document.

Likewise, it is recognized that tourism is one of the main sources of income in the Dominican Republic and a highly sought after destination by Cubans in the United States, especially for the Dominican Republic popular seaside resort of Punta Cana.

In Punta Cana, Cuban tourists can choose from a variety of hotel groups that allow them to find the perfect accommodation with the quality they are looking for in service, travel agencies say.

“No queues for chocolate ice cream or rushing for an early breakfast. You go to Punta Cana to have fun,” they warn.

Recently Dominican authorities dismantled a Cuban human trafficking network from Haiti to that country and warned that the number of illegal immigrants trying to enter the territory had increased.
