The letter adds that “alongside the Cuban workers, his people and the Revolution (…), the dear friend maintained an exemplary behavior and an active militancy (…), he was a tireless fighter for the defense of the rights of health workers in the Dominican Republic Republic, the region and the world. He maintained excellent relations with the CTC and the Health Union, favoring the constant presence of SINATRAE at the most important events and activities such as May 1st (…), we will always remember his voice against the cruel, the unjust and inhumane blockade against Cuba by the United States government”.

Regarding the news, the Dominican newspaper Diario Libre highlighted Julio César García Cruceta’s fight in favor of nurses’ rights in the country and his role as an active promoter of education, especially secondary education.

As national secretary for education and training of the National Confederation of Trade Unions (CNUS), García Cruceta defended the need to “seek a stronger and better link and coordination of education and training policies with policies of productive development and job creation” ; and to reconcile them with social dialogue as a principle of democratic institutionality.

“SINATRAE will continue to be a reference union for the region and the world in its fight to defend workers’ rights. The Cuban trade union movement reaffirms its commitment to maintaining the bonds of fraternity and solidarity with the sister country’s National Union of Nursing Workers. The legacy of Julio Cesar García Cruceta also remains with us. We accompany you in this sad moment and tell you that you can count on Cuba! Always until victory!” concludes the text signed by Ismael Drullet Pérez, member of the National Secretariat of the Cuban Workers’ Central.
