The artist Daniel Martin Subiaut denounced on social networks the attack on a cultural patron in Havana on September 1st.
According to him, the incident occurred in the middle of 23rd and G, around 6:30 a.m.
“This man full of light, named Ismael Jaramillo, returned from a visit to his elderly parents in Cienfuegos at dawn on September 1st (6:30 a.m.) at 23rd and G. In the heart of Vedado he was attacked by two criminals that, after robbing him, they beat him until he was thought to be dead. As far as I know these potential murderers have not been caught, I don’t know if there is an ongoing investigation. And yes, I want to know,” he commented.
“Ismael regained consciousness at the Calixto García Hospital, where he received successful treatment. From what I’ve read, he can talk. He still has a long way to go before he’s well. Jaramillo is a cultural supporter who I have known since I was a child.” “I am publishing this for two reasons,” he clarified.
The first, he said, is for everyone to send their good energy for Ishmael’s recovery, and the second is to denounce what happened.
“What was done to catch these attackers? Before it was Ishmael, tomorrow it could be your father. If it happened on 23rd and G (where there have to be cameras) and they weren’t caught, what can we expect other places?” “My message: He’s following in good faith that he’s going to continue to follow that lead, um to avoid what happened to him with others,” he concluded.
