Cyberpunk 2077: The game developer announces a live-action project – L’Éclaireur Fnac

In a press release, Polish developer CD Projekt Red confirmed a collaboration aimed at adapting the universe of its futuristic game.

Whether it’s The Witcher (adapted into a successful series on Netflix) or Cyberpunk (translated into an anime by the same channel), CD Projekt seems to have a transmedia policy. Yesterday, the developer of these two flagship titles confirmed the start of a collaboration aimed at bringing the cyberpunk universe inspired by Mike Pondsmith’s board game into live action. Clearly, this universe, reminiscent of Blade Runner among other sci-fi masterpieces, has solid arguments to make.

Cyberpunk, star game

CD Projekt had already invited two Hollywood stars into its video game universe, first with Keanu Reeves (The Matrix, John Wick) in the first game, then more recently with Idris Elba (The Wire, Luther) in the latest Cyberpunk DLC 2077 Phantom Freedom. An expansion that, after a disappointing start, completed a massive operation to win back its players.

These efforts have rehabilitated the title and today sees unprecedented attendance. It seems that these luxury guests have also given the studios ideas, which was probably boosted by the huge success of the Cyberpunk Edgerunners anime last year.

Far from being anonymous

To give credibility to the announcement, CD Projekt backed it with a production house with great success. Contrary to what the name suggests, Anonymous Content is a renowned company that is behind cult series such as True Detective or Mr. Robot as well as cinema hits such as The Revenant or Spotlight.

A guarantee of quality and seriousness that could also attract Hollywood stars for his future roles. The fact is that this live action is only in its infancy as the huge Hollywood strike finally comes to an end. This means that numerous delayed projects have led to a traffic jam that could jeopardize new developments. Furthermore, it is not yet known whether the project will take the form of a film or a series.
