Czech President pays tribute to victims of Nazi regime in Lidice

Local media emphasizes that amid efforts to change the obvious facts of World War II, such as the Soviet Union’s role in defeating fascism, the nation’s presidency dedicated this tribute to the victims of the Nazis.

To commemorate the event that took place 81 years ago in a town 20 kilometers northwest of that city, representatives of parliament, government, church leadership, veterans and leaders of political parties also attended, the bureau said.

The organizers of the event noted that due to the conflict in Ukraine, no invitation to participate in the commemoration was sent to representatives of Russia and Belarus.

On February 24 last year, Russian President Vladimir Putin declared that a military operation was beginning in Ukraine to protect the insurgent population of the Donbass region and to demilitarize and denazify the country.

The Czech Republic is one of the main drivers of an economic war that has been waged against Russia since 2022 and of war supplies to arma Ukraine.

During the Lidice massacre, the fascists killed 173 people, but in total 340 of the 500 inhabitants of this village, including those who were murdered in the gas chambers of the concentration camps, died completely in this violent action.
