Czech Republic: Twelve years in prison for murdering a teacher with a knife

A young man in the Czech Republic has been sentenced to twelve years in prison for allegedly murdering his teacher with a two-foot-long knife. The 19-year-old must also undergo psychiatric treatment, according to a Prague court, CTK reported on Friday. The murder of the 74-year-old vocational school teacher caused public consternation in late March last year.

I felt intimidated

The convict made a confession in court. He felt humiliated and intimidated in the classroom. According to the prosecution, the student received a five in telecommunications technology the day before the bloody crime.

The judge justified the penalty at the lowest possible limit with the fact that the experts found that he had reduced mental health at the time of the crime. Both the public prosecutor and the accused can appeal the sentence.
