We’ve passed the midseason mark of the 2023 Division I baseball season, and as you might imagine, there have been many changes to our postseason predictions, even since our first season release two weeks ago.

LSU, Wake Forest and Vanderbilt again lead the latest postseason predictions, while there are two changes regarding the top eight national seeds. Oklahoma State and Boston College are out of the mix for the top 8, and Arkansas and East Carolina came in at #4 and #8 respectively. The Hogs continue to defy the odds despite injuries and have an SEC record of 11-4 with an overall score of 30-7 and an RPI of 5. As for the Pirates, they clearly have the Americans in control and have an RPI of 9 .

As for the rest of the top 16 hosts, Boston College and Oklahoma State also fell completely out of the mix, while three teams hosted this week: Coastal Carolina, Connecticut and Indiana. Coastal currently leads a top 5 RPI league in the Sunbelt and has an RPI of 11, which comes with an 11-8 mark versus RPI Top 100. UConn is an impressive 13-6 on the road, 10-7 vs RPI Top 100 and has an RPI of 16, and Indiana is 14th in the overall with a 26-11 and a Big Ten record of 9-3 RPI up. For those wondering, as of now, BC is still in the mix for a host with an RPI of 17, while the state of Oklahoma has recently dropped to 32 in the RPI post-RPI. Other teams being considered as hosts include Southern Miss, NC State, Dallas Baptist, Louisville, UCLA, Campbell, and Indiana State.

In terms of total postseason applications, the SEC leads all conferences with 10 applications, while the ACC is just behind with nine applications. The Big 12 and Pac-12 each have five bids in our projections, while four are from the Sunbelt and three are from the Big Ten. Finally, at least two bids are coming from Big West, Conference USA and Colonial Athletic Association.

Mark Etheridge, Kendall Rogers and Aaron Fitt compiled the postseason predictions.
