DaBaby faces charges of allegedly assaulting the owner of a rental property

Rapper DaBaby was hit with battery charges from an alleged assault that took place while shooting his music video last year.

The 30-year-old musician has been charged by LA County Attorneys with allegedly hitting property owner Gary Pagar after he tried to shut down his video shoot.

The incident, which occurred in early December, reportedly left Pagar with serious injuries, TMZ reports. Legal troubles: Rapper DaBaby, 30, was hit with criminal battery charges over an alleged assault that took place at his music video shoot last year: Pictured in 2021

An associate of the rapper named Thankgod Awute — who prosecutors said was DaBaby’s “crime cohort” — was charged with robbery in the incident.

DaBaby – born Jonathan Lyndale Kirk – rented Pagar’s mansion in Los Angeles for a week to shoot a music video.

In a lawsuit filed by the owner last February, he claimed that the rapper and his management team agreed to limit the number of guests during his stay to 12 per their lease.

Pagar alleges that DaBaby’s team falsely assured him they wouldn’t be staying long after realizing there were more than 12 people at the property.

However, when Pagar visited the property on Dec. 2, he found that the rapper filmed a video of “more than 40 people” at the mansion, which violated the original lease.

While trying to resolve the situation, Pagar was allegedly attacked by a DaBaby crew member who pinned him to the ground, as seen in video of the incident.

DaBaby – who has been involved in countless physical altercations over the years – then allegedly punched Pagar in the mouth and knocked out a tooth.

The violent incident is one of many in the rapper’s history. Last weekend he appeared to have swung his fist at a member of his own team.

The incident, during which he appeared to be wielding Wisdom, his signed artist, happened backstage at Colonial Life Arena in Columbia, South Carolina, where DaBaby was scheduled to perform for Spring Jam 2022.

Earlier this month, the rapper also shot someone in the leg after claiming he had wandered onto his property, according to TMZ. No arrests were made at the time.

He was also involved in a bowling alley dispute earlier this year with his ex-girlfriend DaniLeigh, 27’s brother Brandon Bills, with law enforcement sources saying they were investigating DaBaby at the time for assault with a deadly weapon.

Meanwhile, a recent video of the rapper surfaced this past weekend showing him fatally shooting 19-year-old Jaylin Craig during a 2018 confrontation at a North Carolina Walmart.

DaBaby was accused of carrying a concealed weapon after the shooting but was not charged with murder as he claimed self-defense and reported that the victim had a gun pointed at him.

Rolling Stone released surveillance footage of the incident, sparking debate about self-defense.
