Vice President and Director of Player Personnel Stephen Jones said in an interview with The Dallas Morning News on Wednesday.
The manager also said his club are ready to negotiate a contract extension with the 29-year-old. Prescott has a valid contract until the conclusion of the 2024 season.
He is currently the eighth highest-earning quarterback in the NFL, earning $40 million annually. Additionally, offering a contract extension for Prescott could allow the club to free up space on their payroll. According to specialist website Spotrac, Dallas would exceed the legal limit by about $9.8 million for next season.
The Cowboys went 61-36 when Prescott was their starter, but the team was never able to advance to the second round of the playoffs with him.
That season, the Texans lost 19-12 to the San Francisco 49ers after reaching the first round by beating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Prescott completed 66.2% of his attempted passes for 2,860 yards and 23 touchdowns in 12 regular season games in 2022. He also had 15 interceptions.
