A shopper endured a humiliating ordeal after she became trapped trying to press the button to flush the toilet in the washroom of a Chanel store.
The US-based woman named Riley had been visiting a luxury boutique in Venice, Italy when the unfortunate mishap occurred.
In a 30-second TikTok video, she was seen sitting on a toilet seat while a security guard frantically pumped soap onto her finger, which was caught knuckle-first in the toilet flush hole.
“Okay, that hurts so much,” she was heard saying as her two younger sisters watched, suppressing laughter at the awkwardness of the situation.

Riley’s two younger sisters – including her middle sister Meredith, who posted the clip and a subsequent statement – couldn’t help but laugh
The clip, which has been viewed more than 1.8 million times to date, was uploaded by the trio’s middle sister, Meredith.
She commented on the clip, saying, “We laughed inappropriately, he’s been stuck for like 10 minutes and the whole team is helping.”
“Traumatizing but also one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen lmao,” Meredith added in the July 24 TikTok caption.
A few weeks later, Meredith released a follow-up video to tell the backstory of that humiliating moment.
“My sister’s finger is fine, for those of you who are wondering,” she began.
“We didn’t even realize that this video went viral right away… Now my sister is so embarrassed.” She says, “I can’t believe 1 million people saw me getting my finger stuck in a toilet flush. “
The incident began with Riley and her youngest sister going to the bathroom together during the family’s Chanel visit.
“Luckily they only went to pee.” “It would have been even more embarrassing if they didn’t,” Meredith clarified – as the embattled Riley hadn’t even managed to flush the toilet before her finger got caught in the hole.

Riley had already done her business and washed her hands when her younger sister called her for help because the flush button on her toilet didn’t seem to be working.
“She didn’t want to use her finger because she’d already washed her hands, so she used her knuckle.” And she pushed her knuckle in – and then her knuckle wouldn’t come out,” Meredith explained.
“And my little sister looks at her and she’s like, ‘Oh no… oh my god, I need help, I need help.’ And her face is starting to turn white,” Meredith continued, stifling laughter as she said the episode told.
Then the little sister came out of the washroom and turned to one of the clerks for help.
“We’re all trying not to laugh because we’re like, ‘Is this really happening? We’re literally in the Chanel toilet right now like that’s so embarrassing.”
It wasn’t long before about eight employees gathered around the broken toilet stall to solve the humiliating puzzle – including the security guard with the soap dispenser in hand.
At one point, Riley even began begging Meredith to call her engineer husband for advice over the phone. “She says, ‘Get the engineer over here,'” Meredith said.

Meanwhile, according to Meredith, Riley’s finger was “growing by the minute.” Her finger was so swollen.
“And I’m like, ‘There’s no way she can get her finger out of that toilet flush… Is there a doctor? For example, what should we do?”
Ultimately, the staff “removed the dishwasher from the wall.” [and] “Cut the waterline,” Meredith said.
After about 15 minutes of unsuccessful attempts to free Riley’s fingers, it was finally a pair of pliers that did the trick.
“It was so traumatic, but so funny,” Meredith mused. “And I mean, we really talked about it for the rest of the trip. It made us laugh so much!’
Countless commentators seemed to think Riley had the right to free Chanel merchandise out of pity.
But Meredith concluded her recap of the toilet flushing saga with disappointment: “We didn’t get a free bag.”
