Recovering NFL star Damar Hamlin has spoken publicly for the first time since suffering cardiac arrest during Monday night’s Buffalo Bills football game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

The 24-year-old promised fans they “would be hearing from him soon” and he sent a message on Saturday night in which he spoke publicly for the first time since the terrifying moment on the field.

“I’m so grateful to everyone and I know that just being grateful isn’t enough,” Hamlin said on his social media channels.

Hamlin shared the full message in a scroll on his Instagram page, followed by 1.8million people, and the Bills also shared the “special message” on Saturday night.

“Now that my brothers have wrapped up a strong winning season while I continue to make such great strides in recovery, I think it’s finally a good time to share a few things,” the thank you clip began.
