“I really have to choose the timing of the operation because the recovery will take three months. Three months without singing,” he told QMI Agency, recalling that he has several shows scheduled with the Daraîche family in the coming weeks.
“I can wait, but I can’t break my voice, I have to be careful or the cysts can grow and cause damage.”
During the duel, we spectators saw nothing but fire, but Dan was in pain as he pressed the piece of paper. “It wasn't the usual, I could have given more. I was in pain because it was my worst moment. I was suffering, I didn't know what to do! I tried not to let it show.”
He even fears permanently damaging his voice, which, along with the drums, is his tool on stage. But having followed his father Paul Daraîche all his life, he knows the show must go on.

“No matter what happens, the show has to give and be good,” added Dan, who once threw up between songs as a drummer. Nothing appeared and the performance continued as usual.
“There is stress that comes with it, but I have no choice. My ENT doctor advised me to be careful and recommended that I stop singing for a while,” said the young father, whose son Billy is 1 year and 4 months old. But since he was on the La Voix adventure, he had to give it his all and then rest.
“After recording La Voix, I stopped singing for a while to recover. It's gotten better, but I can't take it too far. Above all, I can’t sing for too long at a time.”
Come out of your shell
Dan is shy in life and says he wants to come out of his shell, which his coach Mario Pelchat encourages him to do.
“I feel some kind of resistance. I want and I don't want, it's special. It's embarrassing and it means compromising yourself in front of others. It can be difficult. The voice helped me. It’s not just a show, there are interviews, it’s the most stressful I’ve ever experienced.”

Participation in La Voix, becoming a father for the first time and cysts on his vocal cords meant a great time in Dan Daraîche's life for which he learned a lot.
“I have to grow beyond myself. These are all unknown things. The voice is the cameras, the interviews, being a father for the first time is quite an experience.”
