Keep partying! Dana Carvey says he’s ready for Wayne’s World 3 with Mike Myers – 30 years after the last film: ‘I’m always there’
Dana Carvey said he’s ready to star in a third Wayne’s World film if co-star Mike Myers is up for it.
The duo, who reprized their roles as teenage TV stars for a Super Bowl commercial in January 2021, have been bouncing ideas for years.
At the Mark Twain Awards for American Humor honoring Dana and Mike’s former SNL cast member Adam Sandler Sunday, Dana, 67, told People we’re “always ready” to star in another adventure.
When asked if a Wayne’s World 3 was possible, the comedian was quick to reply, “Yes, it is.”
He dodged his answer a bit, explaining, “I don’t know. Maybe we’ll do it in dolls,” he joked, before deciding, “I’m not sure.”
Third installment? Dana Carvey said he’s “always ready” to star for Wayne’s World 3 if co-star Mike Myers is on board. “Love Mike Myers, Just a brilliant guy,” he said when asked about a possible sequel some 30 years after it hit theaters
Cult Classic: Wayne’s World was released in 1992 and is based on the popular SNL skits about two teenagers who host a community TV show in Wayne’s basement. The film exceeded expectations, grossing $183 million and has since become a cult classic
“I’m always there,” he said. “I love Mike Myers. Just a brilliant guy.”
The 1992 film, based on the popular Saturday Night Live skits performed by Mike, now 59, and Dana, grossed $183 million, although expectations for the film’s success were lower given the $20 budget million US dollars were quite small.
A 1993 sequel soon followed, featuring new adventures for the characters Wayne Campbell and his sidekick Garth Algar, but did not fare as well at the box office, grossing around $72 million.
A picture shared to Dana’s Instagram account on Feb. 21 of Garth painting a portrait of Wayne lying on a sofa in the basement prompted thousands of hopeful comments from fans.
Josh Gad wrote, “Please let it be 3.”
Acapulco star Will Sasso chimed in with a Wayne’s World catchphrase: “We’re not worth it!”
