Danger! Fans didn’t hold back their disdain after watching Monday night’s episode of one of the longest-running game shows, now in its 39th season.
One of the two rotating hosts – four-time Emmy nominee Mayim Bialik – introduced a bizarre new mash-up category during the Double Jeopardy round entitled “Let’s Make a Movie Crossover!” which caused confusion for all three participants.
The first clue for $1200 was, “Stay stylish, Kali!” A 2004 San Diego news anchor and a 1984 Indiana Jones champion.
No one used their buzzer and the 47-year-old neuroscientist revealed it was about “Ron Burgundy and The Temple of Doom,” with one attendee audibly scoffing.
The second clue, for $1,600, read, “An Alan Rickman’s Die Hard villain “wants these detonators” from a 2002 title, Great Dane!”

Candidate Mary Kate Gleidt, a nonprofit Missouri director, responded, “Hans Gruber Beethoven.”
When Mayim stated the answer was “Hans Gruber and Scooby Doo,” Mary replied, “That’s bad.”
Even returning champion Ben Goldstein, a content marketing specialist from Michigan, replied, “No.”
Third contestant Jonathan Belford, a Texas television researcher, was in the red and didn’t even qualify to enter the Final Jeopardy round.
Bialik’s final lead was, “In 2022, Jeff Bezos awarded her $100 million in charity because ‘she gives with her heart'” and the response was Dolly Parton.
In the end, Mary lost her $100 for betting on Oprah Winfrey and Ben lost $1,000 for betting on Lady Gaga, earning him $9,000 ($15,198 along with Friday’s win).
And with 19 missed replies, it ended up being the second-worst-scoring episode of the entire season, and the fan reaction was brutal.
“This film category was terrible. Not even a mashup or a “pun”. Just two random things. “Terrible,” Twitter user @absoluteworst11 blown up.
