Who is James Holzhauer?
The self-proclaimed “bad guy” of the season “Jeopardy!” Masters tournament was crowned the winner in Wednesday night’s episode.
The 38-year-old woodcutter won the grueling three-week tournament after outsmarting 24-year-old Mattea Roach, who placed second, and 32-year-old Matt Amodio, who placed third.
The professional sports player took home the grand prize of $500,000 as well as the inaugural Trebek Trophy.
“Danger!” said they also donated $100,000 to the Las Vegas non-profit Project 150, which helps senior high school students with housing insecurity.
Host Ken Jennings, who continues a mock feud with the champion, told Holzhauer that the other competitors pushed him to the limit.
“They put you to the test, but you’re our very first ‘Jeopardy!’ Masters champion,” said Jennings, 49.
After his victory, the Illinois native turned to his competitors and congratulated them on a well-run race.

“You played great, your dad is so proud of you,” Holzhauer told Roach, who lost her father earlier this month. “Your mother Too.”

“You know how much work I had to do to get to this lectern and not have to play you again, James,” the game show said, as Holzhauer accused him of “dodging a rematch “.
The duo later indulged in some sassy nerd flirting after Jennings joked that he called Holzhauer “elegantly erotic but full of enchanting terrors.”
“Keep it in your pants, Ken,” Holzhauer quipped.
The sensual exchange made Roach laugh.
