A day after the episode, Maíra recalls that Dani couldn’t tell about Melhem’s advances because she still didn’t understand that it was harassment. That conversation took place months later, and Maíra and the comedian had already met again by then, after the psychologist traveled to Rio de Janeiro again. “I have no relevance to this process. I just stayed with him. If so, we would have to call all the women who stayed with him in Brazil. I didn’t want to be exposed either, did I? My boyfriend protected me. As soon as I left Piauí I said, “Wow, I don’t want to be exposed in all this.” I work in a place where I have to be super discreet, I’m not from the artistic background, I haven’t spoken to any press vehicle. Maíra said that he decided to go public after the comedian’s speeches. After being quoted by Melhem’s defense, she told the court that she did not witness an episode of harassment at Zorra’s party and that Melhem used the argument as a defensive advantage in later interviews. “He has been saying my name and lying for two years. He’s twisting everything I said at the hearing. He’s trying to use me as a defense strategy, which doesn’t make sense because a threesome never happened. I’m staying with him , in no way negates that he has been bothering Dani. I wasn’t molested but that doesn’t mean Dani wasn’t molested.
