Daniel Radcliffe responds to Wolverine MCU casting rumors

Actor Daniel Radcliffe has responded to rumors that he will play Wolverine in an upcoming film set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Actor Daniel Radcliffe recently responded to rumors that he is set to play Wolverine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Speaking to ComicBook.com, Radcliffe stated, “So many times people have come up to me and said, ‘Hey man, heard about the Wolverine news. It’s really cool.” I’m like, “Buddy… I don’t know anything about it.” Questioning the rumors by comparing himself to the iconic Hugh Jackman, Radcliffe declared: “Prove me wrong, Marvel!”

Rumors of Radcliffe and Wolverine have been around since at least 2019, a few years after Hugh Jackman turned down a role in 2017’s Logan. More recently, rumors have begun to circulate – though not necessarily related to Radcliffe – suggesting that Wolverine could appear in the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. It was reported that a new actor was attached to him, and it would not be Jackman. No further details have been offered as to which actor can wear adamantium claws.

Others rumored to be taking on a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe include actor Taron Egerton, who has also denied being involved with the MCU and the role. Discussing the rumors, Egerton recently said, “It’s like playing Bond… It would be interesting to play the part you play in front of such a huge audience. These films are the most popular films in the world… It’s great.” thrills, and it’s a great role. But there is no truth in this. Although very flattering.”

While Marvel Studios has not provided official confirmation of these rumors, speculation persists due to the apparent inclusion of Professor Charles Xavier in the Doctor Strange sequel, with Sir Patrick Stewart reprising a role from the X-Men franchise. Although his voice was heard in the film’s first full trailer, Stewart hesitated in an interview for a while before conclusively confirming that it was his voice. He explained, “It wasn’t until the next morning that I woke up and looked at my phone and found that I was bombarded with responses and that my PR people sent me responses that they detailed and relayed to me… didn’t recognize my voice, it sounded different.”

Wolverine made his debut in 2000’s X-Men, where he was played by Jackman. It was a role the actor returned to in nine films over nearly two decades, including the original X-Men trilogy, prequel films, and Wolverine solo films, including Logan. Since then, Jackman has constantly stated that he is done with the role and does not intend to return to it.
