As Washington Commanders owner Daniel Snyder continues to be suspended (or voluntarily relieved) from management of the team, he remains involved on several league-wide committees.

As in four of them.

NBC Sports Washington’s JP Finlay noted earlier today that Snyder serves these groups: legalized sports betting; ventures; fan engagement and major events; and internationally. While Snyder’s constant presence on these committees doesn’t contradict the idea that he’s not involved in day-to-day operations, it does look odd.

On the other hand, everything about the situation looks strange. All. So it actually makes sense that Snyder was pushed away from leading his team, but wasn’t barred from performing duties normally reserved for people directly involved in the operations and management of the franchise.

On Tuesday, Commissioner Roger Goodell said Snyder remains uninvolved in the day-to-day operations of the team and that Snyder and Goodell will discuss the situation soon. Above such interactions looms a new probe into specific allegations of misconduct against Snyder and an ongoing effort by Congress to compel the league and team to disclose some, some or all of the evidence developed by attorney Beth Wilkinson during her 10-month investigation of the year-long alleged misconduct within the organization.
