Daryl Braithwaite returns Harry Styles’ ‘ultimate compliment’ by performing a cover of Watermelon Sugar at his Sydney concert
Harry Styles paid legendary Australian singer Daryl Braithwaite the “ultimate compliment” by covering his hit “Horses” at his Melbourne concert in February.
Now the former lead singer of Sherbet, 74, has paid back the hat by covering Watermelon Sugar at his own concert in Sydney on Friday night.
With both singers performing in the same city on the same night and fans divided, Braithwaite honored the 29-year-old’s fans in his crowd with the performance.
In a video uploaded by fans to TikTok, Braithwaite held up a sign written by a fan that read, “I had a ticket to see Harry but I chose you instead.”
It all got fun, however, as the veteran performer then began his own rendition of Styles’ hit Watermelon Sugar.

It comes after Braithwaite sang along to Styles’ rendition of his famous song The Horses at his concert in Melbourne last Saturday night.
He attended the concert of the Grammy winner, who played his legendary song to the concertgoers.
Dressed simply in a white t-shirt, Braithwaite arrived at the Marvel Stadium performance.

He smiled and laughed as the crowd danced along to the British hitmaker’s performance.
The entertainer shared his excitement on Facebook the next day, writing: “What an extraordinary night at Harry’s performance. I just love the feel of these massive concerts when they take on a life of their own.”
He continued, “Harry Styles is so good at what he does and they loved him. I was completely overwhelmed by the night. Thank you Harry and his army.’
Styles has certainly won over Australian fans during his Love On Tour as the tattooed star wowed the crowd by doing a ‘shoey’ during his set at Perth’s HBF Park.
