Hall & Oates are stupid…at least in the eyes of Daryl Hall Who is to blame? John Oates that he intentionally sells his half of their partnership behind his back to a third party that Daryl doesn’t trust.
Hall lays out his argument with Oates in legal documents that the judge is now unsealing… and they reveal exactly why the legendary duo are at war. As we reported, Daryl received an injunction last week against John, and we now know that he managed to block the sale of John’s half of Whole Oats Enterprises (WOE) – a company they had set up to control some of the group’s assets.
In the documents, Daryl explains that they would agree to some sort of business divorce in 2022… starting with the division of assets. According to Daryl, things went wrong when John secretly decided to sell his half of WOE to a company called Primary Wave.
Daryl says he was “blindsided” by the decision – which was told to him two days before he left for a tour… and he believes John’s timing was deliberate. According to the documents, John knows he needs Daryl to approve this sale, and Daryl says, “I have no intention of becoming a partner in Primary Wave, and [Oates] I cannot be allowed to force a new partner on myself in this outrageous way.
And here’s a sign of how petty this is getting… Daryl even believes that John timed the Primary Wave deal to coincide with the start of Daryl’s tour in order to “ambush” and distract him, possibly screwing up his performance… and intentionally “harassing me.” the greatest possible damage.”

Why Daryl says “I can’t do that” at Primary Wave – in the documents he says the company has an allegation of exploiting artists’ copyrights and trademarks after purchasing their catalogs. Bottom line, he doesn’t want PW to control his name and likeness.
He wants the dispute to be resolved in arbitration, and until then… he wants a judge to block Hall’s sale to PW.

Sooo…Daryl is Brad and John is Angelina. This should end well.
