Wide wide receiver Davante Adams met with the media on Tuesday for the first time since being traded to the Raiders and said the chance to join the team allowed him to complete a couple of his goals.

One was to play for the team he rooted for growing up in Northern California, and the other was to play in the NFL with Derek Carr. Carr was Adams’ quarterback at Fresno State, and the two men talked many times about how great it would be to have the chance to do it again at the professional level.

Adams said that this is “something we’ve definitely looked forward to going forward” and that these conversations have become more frequent after the last couple of weeks the chance of Adams being traded has become more likely.

“As events unfolded, we obviously communicated several times a week,” Adams said via Vincent Bonsignor of the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “Once we got to the point where it was a reality and not just a thought, we started making a little plan. At that moment I was still in Green Bay. I was still weighing my options. I grew up in East Palo Alto. I’ve been a fan of the Raiders all my life. Becoming a raider was a dream. I said I wanted to be an NFL star and at the time I was wearing a Charles Woodson jersey. I think you can say that this is how it should have been.”

Adams noted that playing with Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay was also “a dream come true” and the big contract he signed with the Raiders will allow him to pursue many other aspirations, so Adams has plenty to be happy about. How is he doing in football?
