‘Am I that unattractive?’: Dave Bautista worries his looks are preventing him from starring in romantic comedies
Dave Bautista has expressed concerns that his bulky, muscular build and numerous tattoos could prevent him from landing a role as the male lead in a romantic comedy.
While attending the premiere of his new horror film, Knock at the Cabin, the 54-year-old WWE Champion-turned-actor revealed his ambitions to one day star in a rom-com.
“I know I’m not your typical rom-com lead,” he told Page Six. “I’m a little rough around the edges.”

He continued, “I look in the mirror and say I’m like, ‘Am I that unattractive? Is there something so unattractive about me that excludes me from these parts?’
‘I do not know. It just never got in my way. I’ve never had an offer to do a rom-com. I still have high hopes. I’ll just keep looking,” said the Guardians of the Galaxy star
Before his acting career, Bautista won the World Tag Team Championship three times and is the longest-reigning World Heavyweight Champion in WWE history.

“I know I’m not the typical lead in a rom-com,” he told Page Six. “I’m a little rough around the edges” (seen in 2021)
“I jumped all my 20s until I was 30 [old]. I started bouncing when I was 17, and there was always some drunk asshole who wanted to test me,” he recalls.
The Knives Out 2 star added, “And then I went into wrestling where it was really fair [a] toxic environment where I was again. I’ve always wanted to [I was in a] bad environment.’
“And I always felt like I had to stand up and it was a relief that I never had to do that again,” Bautista concluded.
Fears: He continued, “I look in the mirror and say I’m like, ‘Am I that unattractive? Is there something so unattractive about me that excludes me from these parts?’

Now he prefers to take arguments “verbally” and is “proud” “to have turned into this guy”.
His latest film, Knock at the Cabin, hits theaters on February 3, 2023.
He portrays Leonard, a “complex, tormented, gentle” man, in the apocalyptic thriller based on the 2018 novel of the same name by Paul G. Tremblay.
