In case you missed it, the Los Angeles area has been grappling with unusually intense weather lately; Last week LA received what is believed to be only the second ever snowstorm warning. Meanwhile, Dave Grohl, the leader of the Foo Fighters, decided to use his grilling skills and help out.

As TMZ reports, Grohl rolled into the Hope Of The Valley rescue mission in Los Angeles in a large meat smoker on Feb. 22, and after 16 hours of preparation, he had enough food to feed about 500 people: “Ribs, pork belly, brisket, cabbage , coleslaw and beans.”

Hope Of The Valley also shared an Instagram Story yesterday from CEO Rowan Vansleve, who posted a photo of Grohl preparing food in the rain and wrote: “In the middle of the storms this week. This is where Dave Grohl cooks over 500 servings of the finest barbecue for residents of our shelters. That’s great.”

In a 2018 interview with Uproxx, Grohl compared the grilling process to music, saying, “You know, you work all day and then you present it to someone and it’s almost like you’re making a song. You have your specific recipe or rub. And you know, the best feeling is when you have these big barbecues and I’m handing out food for everyone and then they come back for seconds, it’s almost like a performance in a way.”
