Portuguese authorities have arrested a 31-year-old Quebec man believed to be the right-hand man of Blood Family Mafia leader Dave “Pic” Turmel in connection with crimes committed last summer in Quebec City territory.

Roobens Denis was arrested on Thursday at the request of the Quebec City Police Service (SPVQ) and the Sûreté du Québec. He was wanted for several months before his arrest.
According to the two Quebec police forces, the suspect is the “confidential man” of the 27-year-old boss who has been in the headlines for several weeks. There are also several arrest warrants against him.

Between the cracks
Denis was one of the targets of an operation by the SPVQ's MALSAIN Project in July 2023. He could not be found at that time and police eventually learned that he was outside Canada.

“Given that Roobens Denis was wanted for drug trafficking offenses and drug trafficking conspiracy, steps were taken to have Interpol issue him a Red Notice,” police said in a press release.
New information obtained during the week made it possible to locate the 30-year-old. After his arrest, extradition steps were initiated to bring him back to the country and face trial.
