The award ceremony of the 68th edition of the David di Donatello (LO SPECIALE), the prestigious film prize of the Academy of Italian Cinema, considered national Oscars, was directed by Carlo Conti and actress Matilde Gioli and broadcast live on Rai 1 from Lumina Studios in Rome. The event saw 25 David di Donatello Awards and David Specials presented, including to director Enrico Vanzina and actress Isabella Rossellini. The Eight Mountains won Best Picture. Emanuela Fanelli won Supporting Actress for Siccità, while Francesco Di Leva won the David for Supporting Role thanks to her performance in Nostalgia. Best Actress Barbara Ronchi for September and Best Actor Fabrizio Gifuni for Night Effect by Marco Bellocchio, Award for Directing. Elodie won Best Original Song with the song Bullets in the film Ti mangio il cuore, while Stefano Bollani won Best Composer for Il pataffio.
