This year’s awards were launched back in June by boxing legend Anthony Joshua as one of many celebrations to mark the NHS’s 75th anniversary.
The athlete encouraged people to nominate, saying: “It is my pleasure to announce this year’s awards.” At last year’s ceremony, it was truly a humbling experience to hear the incredible stories of heroism that took place in play across the UK.
“I was overwhelmed by the people I met. For me they are the real stars. Our health heroes are true fighters. The last few years have been incredibly tough for those working on the front lines. They have guided us through the coronavirus pandemic while trying to maintain all other services.
“Our NHS is made up of people from different backgrounds coming together to selflessly help others.” They brought greatness to Britain. They don’t do it for the money or the thanks. “You’re not the type to hog the spotlight, which is why The Sun needs you to name your health hero.”
