FRIDAY FINALS HEAT SHEET
The third final session of the Pro Swim Series – San Antonio begins tonight at 6:00 p.m. CST. Tonight the finals of the 200 Fly, 50 Free, 100 Back, 200 Breast and 400 Free will take place.
Hali Flickinger comes close as a top qualifier in the women’s 200 fly Dakota Luther. Pro from Georgia Chase Kalisz set the best time in the men’s 200 fly this morning and finishes as the top seed tonight.
TAC Titans Claire Curzan posted a 25.04 this morning to secure first place in the women’s 50 free while NC State freshman David Curtiss holds the top seed in the men’s 50, just ahead of him Michael Andrew and Florida pro Caeleb Dressel.
Just minutes after the 50 Free, Curzan will return to the 100 Back as a top seed while Shaine Casas, who won last night’s 100 fly, holds the top seed in the men’s 100 backstroke. In the 200m breaststroke, Texan sophomore Anna Elendt is the top seed in the women’s race, while Arizona rookie Leon Marchand is the top qualifier in the men’s 200m breaststroke.
The session ends with the 400 free wo Katie Ledecky competes as a heavy favorite in the women’s and Bar Soloveychik competes as the top qualifier in the men’s.
Notably, tonight’s weather forecast calls for strong winds at the Northside Aquatic Center outdoors, with gusts of up to 30mph providing tailwinds for the 50 Frees.
women 200 fly

Top 8 finishers:
sun devil Hali Flickinger came in as the top seed in the women’s 200 fly and defended her seeded position by winning in 2:08.47. Texas’ Emma Sticklen was out fast and spun with Flickinger midway before the ASU pro took control of the race in the 3rd 50.
Texas’ Kelly Pash and Arizona’s Lindsay Looney used strong Final 50 to defeat Sticklen for 2nd and 3rd place respectively.
Men’s 200 bow tie

Chase Kalisz put on a dominating performance in the A-Final of the 200 Fly, running wire to wire and touching first in 1:56.79. Kalisz looked strong home, splitting 30.3/30.6 in the final 100 meters of the race.
Second was Louisville pro Zach Harting in 1:58.95, and University of Tennessee staffer Martin Espernberger von Bolles rounded out the podium.
women 50 free

Top 8 finishers:
Claire Curzan the TAC Titans shot out to a massive lead and captured the win in 24.43. Despite adding a few tenths to her lifetime best, she actually cut Torri Huske’s 17-18 NAG by 0.01. Curzan’s best time and 15-16 NAG stands at 24.17.
Tennessee pro Erika Brown placed 2nd in 24.81 while Louisville pro Mallory Comerford placed 3rd in 25.11.
In the B final, Louisville pro Kelsi Dahlia flew to finish third in a 26.13 freestyle swim, just a tenth slower than she swam in the heats.
men 50 free
Top 8 finishers:
Michael Andrew surpassed Florida Gator Pro Caeleb Dressel in the 50, touching first in 21.73 to Dressel’s 21.86. Andrew seemed a little too long in his goal but was still able to get his hand on the wall first.
Third place went to NC State freshman David Curtiss in 21.93. That’s just 0.06 of Curtis’ personal best of 21.87.
women 100 back

Claire Curzan dominated her hard doubles. Less than 15 minutes after winning the 50 Free, Curzan recovered to dominate the 100 back in 58.73 and won by well over a full second. Curzan was leading just 15 meters into the race and continued to extend her lead throughout the 100 meters.
Alabama’s Rhyan White was second in 1:00.05 while ASU Pro Olivia Smoliga was third in 1:00.28.
men 100 back

Shaine Casas took home his second title at this Pro Swim stop, winning the 100 Back in 53.54 after earning his 100 Fly victory yesterday. NC State pro Coleman Stewart finished second in 54.43, just half a second off his personal best.
Third place went to Sam Stewart, who scored in 55.27.

Indiana pro Lilly King used a strong Final 50 to win the 200 breaststroke in 2:23.69, a full second ahead of the field.
King and Texas sophomore Anna Elendt almost tied at 150, although King pulled away on the last 50. Elendt’s time of 2:24.63 is a new lifetime record and a German record.
Indiana pro Annie Lazor rounded out the top 3, touching in 2:24.95. Indiana had 5 of the top 7 finishers in today’s finals.

Fresh from his NCAA title 6 days ago, Leon Marchand swam a new lifetime best of 2:09.24 to win the 200 breaststroke going away. Second behind him was Nic Fink, who represents Metro Atlanta and trains at Georgia Tech.
Chase Kaliszwho won the 200 fly tonight finished third in 2:12.47.
Women 400 free
Top 8 finishers:
Katie Ledecky took home the title in the 400 Free in 4:03.83. Katie came out strong, spinning first at 200 and holding off Leah Smith who passed Ledecky by over half a second in the last 100.
Smith continues her strong match and finishes second in 4:05.83. Smith won the 800 earlier this weekend. sun devil Hali Flickinger grabbed her second podium of the night, finishing third in 4:10.83. Flickinger won the 200 fly tonight.
Men 400 free

Indiana pro Marwan Aly Elkamash, who started the race as the top seed, won the 400 free from lane 3 tonight. Elkamash and Georgia student Tommylee Camblong even swam almost the entire race, with Elkamash pulling away in the final 50 to victory at 3:52,62.
Camblong, swimming from lane 5, fell over a full second from his start to finish second in 3:52.82.
Michael Cotter of NC State and swimmer Bar Soloveychik of Minnesota tied for third place in 3:53.70.
