With the slogan “Access and Security”, Cuba joins the celebration of the International Day of Girls in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT)promoting inclusive internet access and participation in the sector.
According to Daylin Pérez de la Rosa, Director of Institutional Communications young clubActivities have been developed in the nationwide network of institutions to guide girls and young people towards ICT-related careers, thereby increasing women’s participation in technological processes.
He explained to the Cuban News Agency that the International Day is being celebrated in the largest of the Antilles in the context of promoting digital transformation, with full participation of women in all development programs and led by women managers.
This Thursday’s celebrations in Havana, co-organized by the Joven Club and the Informatics Union, will include a meeting in Arroyo Naranjo where the Info-Robotization project will be presented.

In the afternoon there will be a discussion in the El Fanguito neighborhood where the directives of the Ministry of Communicationshe added.
In view of the day, the youth club has convened the competition I am an ICT girl, which consists in developing software, multimedia or applications related to robotics and the three best works will be announced tomorrow, Friday.

On this Thursday, girls and young people have free access to all offers in the Young Club facility network.
International Girls in ICT Day, celebrated on the fourth Thursday of April each year, is an initiative supported by the member states of the International Telecommunication Union to create a global environment that fosters careers in this field.
