Daycare centers damaged by Hurricane Otis in Mexico are back in operation

These facilities have the capacity to care for 2,106 children aged 43 days to four years, explained Mauricio Roldán Parra, in charge of the IMSS devolved management agency in Guerrero.

He recalled that IMSS affiliates, fathers and mothers who could not continue to take their children to daycare, received financial support from November to January.

Now the properties are ready and in optimal condition to offer food, healthcare, education and leisure services with quality, warmth and inclusion.

The official explained that, in addition to 174 places in the regular area, the “Justo Sierra Integrative Daycare” has an infrastructure to care for up to 50 children, some of whom require therapeutic support.

He also assured that the rooms comply with the safety measures set out in the IMSS safety standards, as well as the rules, regulations and laws related to security and disaster prevention.

This hurricane's passage through Mexican territories last October was described as devastating, claiming more than 50 lives in the state of Guerrero.

Otis was the fifteenth tropical cyclone of the 2023 Pacific cyclone season. It was a small cyclone but of extraordinary power and destructiveness.
