DDG appeared to express his insecurities about his relationship with Halle Bailey.
The rapper’s candid remarks are included in his new single “Famous,” which appears to focus on Bailey’s acting career. Bailey played Ariel in Disney’s The Little Mermaid, which hit theaters in May.
The song is featured on his new album Maybe It’s Me… and can be heard on streaming sites Friday.
“I’m trying to figure out what we’re gonna do/How we’re gonna get to the top?/Now you guys are filming a movie you kissy guys,” the lyrics read. “You know I love you very much/I don’t give a shit if this shit is for advertising/I don’t want to see this shit anymore.”
DDG then appeared to point out how Bailey held hands with her The Little Mermaid co-star Jonah Hauer-King at the UK premiere of the film.

“Why are you all holding hands in the photo? You know I’m insecure, it’s taboo/I keep coming back/Wants to leave you but I’m too attached to you,” he says.
In the second verse, DDG goes deeper into his supposed insecurities.
“I was so insecure I thought you really screwing a nigga in movies/ But on the internet I just do it cool but in my head a nigga really loses it/ Needs to be paid well ‘Cause you keep it up, tweet I might just do something just to ruin it. I have a platform, I abuse it,” DDG said.
He continued, “It’s about some things about your job that I wanna know (I do)/When you do your movie, do these niggas turn you on? (To)/When you leave the set, do you still text each other?” Phone? (Phone). Just because they film it doesn’t mean it isn’t wrong.

Online, Bailey’s fans took issue with DDG’s lyrics, in which he also appeared to describe Bailey as “a famous slut.”
“Halle’s misogyny and sheer dismissal is overwhelming,” wrote one user.
Bailey officials did not immediately respond to Insider’s request for comment.
Although the couple started dating in March 2022, their relationship has come under public scrutiny and there have been rumors of breakup. Lute! News, an online row between the couple and DDG’s ex-girlfriend Rubi Rose erupted in February after Rose claimed Bailey was wearing her clothes in photos shared to social media. Both DDG and Bailey denied Rose’s claims.
That same month, fans claimed DDG used a burner account on Twitter to negatively comment on tweets about “The Little Mermaid,” the outlet reported.
Both DDG and Bailey have responded to criticism of their relationship.

DDG told Genius in a video released Thursday that fans are making assumptions about their relationship without actually knowing it.
“You don’t understand. So when people comment on relationships, they say, “Brother, you don’t know what’s really going on.” “That’s what’s wrong with the internet,” DDG said. “They take everything out of context and make up their own story.”
In a May interview with Glamor, Bailey said she tries to keep her private life private, even though people have so many opinions about her.
“Sometimes people put you on that pedestal,” Bailey said. “They forget that you are a real person. They forget that you have feelings, that you cry.”
She added, “It’s really funny how people look at you.” [as] still being that young girl, still that innocent, untouchable thing. I appreciate being able to make my own choices as I journey into adulthood.”
