After resuming production following the actors' strike in November, Marvel Studios' Deadpool 3 is complete for its lead actor Ryan Reynolds.
“The suit hides blood. Sweat too… But today, as Deadpool is being packaged, it's mostly tears. A huge and eternal thank you to the cast and crew of our film who battled the wind, rain, strikes and @thehughjackman… all under the steadfast leadership of @slevydirect,” wrote the actor, who plays the Merc with a Mouth.
“I have to make a film with my closest friends and that doesn’t happen often. See you on July 26,” he added.
Deadpool 3 was one of the few feature film productions to resume on time in late fall, along with Warner Bros.' Beetlejuice 2, Paramount's Gladiator 2, Sony's Venom 3 and Juror No began in mid-July 2023. The threequel grossed $1.57 billion -dollar Deadpool franchise was scheduled to kick off summer 2024 on the trusty first weekend of May, a spot on the calendar that Marvel held for several years. However, as the actors' strike continued, Deadpool 3 was postponed from that date and rescheduled to July 26th.
“Deadpool 3” director Shawn Levy introduced us to Deadpool 3 back in September at TIFF, saying, “We wanted something that felt grounded, real…You have Hugh Jackman in his most iconic character alongside Ryan Reynolds in his most iconic character deployed; It’s more of a descendant of Midnight Run and 48 Hours and Planes, Trains and Automobiles than a descendant of Airplane.”
