(Quebec) An investigation by the Surete du Québec (SQ) is underway into the circumstances that led to the death of a two-year-old girl in Saint-Georges, Beauce, on Wednesday.

SQ was called around 2:15 p.m. to assist paramedics who went to the scene of a 10th Avenue apartment building.
“On site, a small child required medical attention and was taken to a hospital center. Unfortunately, the child’s death was confirmed at the hospital center, ”confirmed just before 11 p.m. Sergeant Hélène St-Pierre, spokeswoman for the Sûreté du Québec.
The latter stated that the child was lifeless during his transport to the hospital.
No details were given to the media about the reason the emergency services called or the nature of the child’s injuries.
“An investigation is being conducted in cooperation with the coroner to determine the causes and circumstances of the event. Since this is the death of a child under the age of six, the Serious Crimes Investigation Department of the Surete du Québec is entrusted with the case. The forensic investigation service is also involved,” said the SQ spokesman.
Also, an autopsy is performed on the child’s body.
There were no arrests on Wednesday.
