Police allege the men were involved in running immigration companies that allow people with forged documents to enter countries.

Four Indian nationals, whose bodies were among the eight bodies recovered from the St. Lawrence River, had come to Canada on tourist visas from their home state of Gujarat. They were the father, Praveen Chaudhari, 50; the mother Daksha, 45 years old; her daughter Vidhi, 23; and her son Meet, 20.

Achal Tyagi, police commissioner of Mehsana city in Gujarat, said authorities had issued an APB on three men: Nikulsinh Vihol, Sachin Vihol and Arjunsinh Chavda.

They are charged with manslaughter which is not murder, infidelity, fraud and unfair incitement to surrender property, and conspiracy.

Mr Tyagi says a police complaint has been filed against the men and the case is still at an early stage of investigation. According to the complaint, translated by The Canadian Press, at least one of the men lived in Canada.

The other four people who died were members of a Toronto-area Romanian family who fled after receiving an eviction order. They have been identified as Florin Iordache, his wife Cristina (Monalisa) Zenaida Iordache and their Canadian-born children, two-year-old daughter Evelin and one-year-old son Elyen.
