The day after former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney died, several Quebec stars took a moment to pay one last tribute to him on social media.
Herby Moreau
Host Herby Moreau posted a photo of himself with the politician, both in tuxedos, at a social event. “Former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney has died at the age of 84. Sincere condolences to his family and loved ones. “A great man has just left us,” he wrote on Instagram.
Jean Marie Lapointe
Host and author Jean-Marie-Lapointe received a visit from Brian Mulroney during the funeral ceremony, which took place a few weeks after the death of his father Jean Lapointe, who died on November 18, 2022. Both were good friends.
“He was a valuable ally on numerous Jean Lapointe telethons and he genuinely loved my father and his work. It was mutual. On behalf of the Lapointe clan, I extend my deepest condolences to the Mulroney family and all those saddened by his death. Peace be with you, Mr. Brian. Thank you for your kindness and your great lessons. May daddy’s smile warmly welcome you,” he wrote on his Facebook page.
In an interview with Le Journal during this final farewell to Jean Lapointe on December 15, 2022, Brian Mulroney confessed: “Jean was one of my good friends. I admired him enormously. I contributed to the founding of Maison Jean Lapointe. And he also sang at my farewell party as Prime Minister. We were good friends.”

Annie Soleil Proteau
Host Annie-Soleil Proteau beautifully paid tribute to the politician, who she describes as friendly, elegant and classy. All under a black and white photo of the couple Brian and Mila Mulroney.
The columnist particularly recalled a time when she was very ill and Brian Mulroney found her number to call her and ask how she was doing. “That Saturday afternoon when my phone rang and I heard, “Annie-Soleil! It's Brian Mulroney. “I wanted to hear you in person, how are you?” I understood that he was even more than anything I remembered about him,” she wrote.
“I really liked the man that was Brian Mulroney. In a long documentary about him, I was struck by the testimony that once Mila, his wife, accompanied him to an event, his tone changed and he only had eyes for her. It touched me. The whirlwind of power and politics did not stop him from keeping what mattered most, the people he loved, at the forefront,” she added.
