Five days after the discovery of the bodies of Quebec businessman and philanthropist Daniel Langlois and his partner, two suspects appeared in court in Roseau, Dominica, a small Caribbean island.

Jonathan Lehrer and Robert Snyder, two American citizens, have been formally charged with the murders of Daniel Langlois and Dominique Marchand. The two suspects have not entered pleas at this time.

Robert Snyder had burn marks on one arm and one leg.

According to local sources, Daniel Langlois and Dominique Marchand, long-time residents of Dominica and building a luxury hotel there, were killed on Friday in an ambush by a hitman who then set fire to the couple’s vehicle with their bodies inside.

However, the person would have injured himself while lighting the fire and this would have enabled the police to trace the trail to him and then to Mr Langlois’ neighbor Jonathan Lehrer, with whom he had been at loggerheads for several years.

So far, four people have been arrested in connection with this case.

The trial is scheduled to begin in March 2024.
