The Diocese of Reunion is speaking out after the official autopsy confirmed that the body found in Jamaica on Sunday morning was that of Father Guy Hoareau, who had disappeared a few days earlier. The Church of Reunion Island will organize his funeral this Wednesday at 10am. Because of the “decay of the body,” no vigil could be held.

This Tuesday afternoon our colleague Guy Hoareau was officially identified through the official autopsy.
We are both very sad to lose him and at the same time we can now prepare for his funeral, which will take place this Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the parish of Sainte-Clotilde. A big thank you goes to our colleague Father Joseph Lekundayo and to the parishioners who are now preparing the reception of the faithful and this celebration. Thanks also go to the parish of Saint-Jacques and Father Clotaire, who welcomed him a few months ago.
Unfortunately, due to the body's advanced deterioration, there will be no vigil.
The liturgical color will be white: we are in the octave of Christmas and it is also the color of
the resurrection.
Many thanks to the various public services that allowed us to identify and find Guy.
We are praying for Guy and his family in a special way this evening.
