Les Cowboys Fringants’ flagship track “On my Shoulder” will be broadcast simultaneously on several radio stations at 8 a.m. on Thursday as a tribute to Karl Tremblay, who succumbed to illness on Wednesday.

The initiative of 107.3 Rouge FM’s program director, Jean-Philippe Marcil, received spontaneous support, as evidenced by numerous retweets.

The announcement caused a stir on social media, with fans of the legendary musical group even going so far as to suggest a nationwide funeral for Karl Tremblay.

In addition to the 107.3 Rouge initiative, vigils in honor of the late singer are planned for Thursday around 7 p.m. at Jeanne-Mance Park in Montreal and at Assomption.

The announcement of the 47-year-old artist’s death sent a real shockwave across Quebec on Wednesday and plunged the Quebec music world into mourning.
