Singer Marcel Amont, known for hits like “Bleu, blanc, blond”, died on Wednesday at the age of 93, according to his family.

The jumping artist and whimsical showman, with a career spanning 75 years, died at his home in Saint-Cloud (west of Paris), the same source said.

Born on April 1, 1929 in Bordeaux, Marcel Miramon, as his real name was, “moved” to Paris in 1950 and gradually made a name for himself in cabaret.

In 1956 his first record received a Grand Prix from Charles-Cros Academy and he opened for Edith Piaf at the Olympia.

Despite the yé-yé wave, the singer, who describes himself as an “entertainer”, sticks to the stage and remains true to himself with titles like “Maria und der Milchtopf” (1965). He complains of being “one of the rare survivors” of the fantasists.

The early 1970s marked the peak of his career: a gold record in 1971 (“L’amour, ça passe le temps”), a triumphant Olympia, and a TV show, “Amont-Tour”, where he performs with singers and dancers.
