Germain Lemay pleaded guilty to five counts of uttering threats at the Sherbrooke Courthouse this morning.
He was arrested last September at his home in Hampden, near Scotstown in Estrie.
In several videos broadcast on the social network TikTok between July and September 2023, the 30-year-old man, who used the pseudonym “Freedom Fighter,” made conspiratorial speeches full of hatred against Prime Ministers Justin Trudeau and François Legault and fomented rebellion against governments and its institutions.
Lemay admitted threatening to kill or harm the prime minister and any police officer who came to his home to arrest him.
While on sick leave due to back pain, he also admitted making threats against the CNESST agent handling his case and causing damage to the organization's offices.
During his arrest by the Sûreté du Québec tactical intervention group, Germain Lemay was shot in the arm by a police officer because he was holding a long gun.
However, the 30-year-old denies the two allegations of pointing a firearm at police and possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose. His trial is scheduled to take place in the coming hours.
