- Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu has not appeared in public for almost two weeks.
- This causes speculation, including about his health.
- The Kremlin, however, denies that something is wrong.
The Russian government has denied public speculation about the long absence of Defense Minister Sergei Shoygu. “The minister of defense now has a lot to do,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
Peskov later told Russian news agencies that Shoigu had informed President Vladimir Putin about the progress of the military operation in Ukraine during a Security Council meeting.
Sergey Shoigu usually appears frequently on state television
The 66-year-old defense minister is usually seen regularly on state television programs. According to media reports, he has not participated in any public nominations since March 11.

The absence of Russian officials often fuels rumors of the disease as authorities are reluctant to disclose such information.
Kremlin spokesman Peskov has now dismissed speculation in some media outlets about Shoigu’s health with a short comment that in the midst of the conflict in Ukraine, “there was no time to speak in the media.” (afp / mcf)
