defines replacement for Mulheres Apaixonadas in Vale a Pena Ver de Novo TV

Globo dropped the hammer and decided that Salve will replace Jorge Mulheres Apaixonadas in Vale a Pena Ver de Novo. Gloria Perez’s soap opera was a fiasco on open television in its original broadcast, is a success on Globoplay and is always among the top 10 most watched productions on the platform. The channel assumes that there is an audience willing to watch (or review) Morena’s (Nanda Costa) adventures against the trafficking of women in Turkey.

During the screening of Salve Jorge, Gloria Perez uttered the classic phrase “Poor people who can’t fly” in response to those who criticized the gaps in the series. Several continuity errors in the story became a joke among viewers. The girl even appeared with a pregnant belly in one scene and without it in the next.

Even Morena’s hair surprised the audience. Since all the scenes were recorded in Turkey before the premiere of the soap opera, at the beginning the protagonist’s appearance changed and the gross continuity error caught people’s attention.

The fact that the big villain of the story, Lívia (Claudia Raia), kills people with a syringe also aroused the anger of viewers. In some scenes she had a tiny bag and her “weapon” appeared out of nowhere and disappeared in the same way.

For all these reasons, the choice of Salve Jorge as a replacement for the classic story of Manoel Carlos is viewed with considerable suspicion. The reason is the performance of the soap opera on the streaming platform and the intention to ensure the number of works by Walcyr Carrasco.

The programming team’s idea was to show Amor à Vida (2013), riding the wave of popularity of the villain Félix (Mateus Solano), which was a huge success. The problem would be the overdose of the author of Terra e Paixão in the repeats. It’s a good world! (2016), The Carnation and the Rose (2000) and Chocolate with Pepper (2003) were recently screened.

Globo’s decision to only show nine soap operas on Vale a Pena Ver de Novo significantly limited the offering. With a few exceptions, the broadcaster prefers to repeat newer storylines every ten years or so; Hail Jorge is right on the edge.

The big problem is that the biggest audience successes of the last decade come from Carrasco: In addition to Amor à Vida, there is O Outro Lado do Paraíso (2017) and A Dona do Pedaço (2019). Popular soap operas such as Avenida Brasil (2012) and A Força do Querer (2017) have already been repeated in recent years; that of João Emanuel Carneiro in Vale a Pena Ver de Novo in 2020 and that of Gloria Perez in prime time during the pandemic in 2021.
