Degraded PlayStation is mistaken for an airport bomb

Poorly caring for a video game can lead to awkward situations, e.g. B. when friends comment on how dirty your console is. But on Easter Sunday (17th), this situation reached a completely different level. Boston International Airport (USA) was evacuated after police were called to identify a “suspicious item” in one of the passengers’ luggage. Well, the item in question was a decrepit PlayStation that ended up being mistaken for a bomb.

According to a report by The Hill newspaper, the bomb squad was activated after Transportation Security Administration (TSA) agents found the checked baggage and sounded the alarm. As a result, the entire Terminal A of the airport was evacuated as a precaution.

Dave Procopio, a representative for the Massachusetts State Police, said the “suspect item” was nothing more than a PlayStation (the console edition was not specified), which is in poor condition due to its age and damage.

The condition of the console caused anomalies in the Xray image, which worried the staff. During the investigation of the object and secondary scans of the area, passengers in Terminal A were evacuated. The agents cleared the place at 5:00 p.m. and the passengers were able to return there.

Apparently, the case at Boston Airport sparked panic. “BattleBornLV”, user of chirpShe released a video showing many people trying to leave the place quickly. According to local news outlet WCVB, some passengers were even removed from planes on the runways, while others were “running and screaming”.
