The computer failure that caused delays and at least one flight cancellation at WestJet on Saturday has finally been fixed, but it will take time for operations to return to normal, the company warned Sunday morning.

“All of our systems are now operational and stable. Unfortunately, we anticipate further disruption as we work to recover from this widespread system outage. We sincerely apologize for this significant inconvenience,” the Alberta-based airline said on its Twitter account.
On Saturday night, WestJet announced that a failure in its systems was causing numerous delays while a better flight had to be cancelled. The contact center could no longer access customer reservations.
According to the FlightAware website, 52% of WestJet flights were delayed on Saturday. Low-cost subsidiary WestJet Encore had a 37% delay rate.
The outage also impacted Calgary Airport, which warned travelers they could face delays due to WestJet’s setbacks. According to FlightAware, 50% of flights out of Calgary and 38% of flights into Alberta’s largest city were delayed on Saturday.
Several netizens vented their frustration online, with some complaining that their flight was delayed by several hours.
