This photo of a Peruvian delivery man, Piero Jiménez, and his dog at work went viral and touched hearts around the world. The Covid19 pandemic has not been easy for drivers and deliverers. It was not an easy time for dogs and cats either.

Many owners have abandoned their pets for fear of catching the coronavirus, although there is no evidence animals transmit the disease. Luckily for Negrita, Piero is a person with a big heart.

In addition to working as a delivery man, the young man devotes his life to rescuing dogs in street situations. According to Piero, he found Negrita wandering around a neighborhood. She was only five months old and because she was very playful and restless, she ended up molesting several neighbors. Therefore, the residents of the neighborhood planned to sacrifice her. But Piero refused to accept this fate and took her in.

“How could they want to kill a fivemonthold dog? They told me that she was very playful and that a lady was fighting with another neighbor because she wanted to kill her,” Piero said.

Piero has a large piece of land in front of his house where he houses, feeds and cares for abandoned dogs that he rescues. However, paying for food for so many dogs is quite expensive, even though it is a passion and a dedication to life. That’s why Piero has to work tirelessly as a delivery boy in his hometown of Peru.

However, every time she left the house, Negrita became very restless and suffered greatly, perhaps because of the memory of the months she had spent on the streets and the constant abuse. Then the tutor had the great idea of taking the dog to work!

So Piero modified the delivery bag, put the pup in it and rode his motorcycle to work. Eventually, the duo adjusted to this dynamic and it became a daily routine. Now Negrita goes out to work with Piero every day and all her clients thank her for it. In a few months, she stopped being on the streets to have a formal job. Not bad for a pup, right?
