Demi Lovato and Luísa Sonza at The Town: Singer invites her “new friend” to sing “Penhasco2”.
Demi Lovato’s performance at The Town 2023 this Saturday (2) was not that different from the one she did at Rock in Rio in 2022. Finally, she is back in Brazil with the same tour as the album “Holy Fvck”. And with the same allfemale band (the competent and charming Nita Strauss, Leanne Bowes, Brittany Bowman and Dani McGinley).
But it was another woman who distinguished this show from previous shows here: Luísa Sonza. The singer from Rio Grande do Sul, who will perform at the festival this Sunday (3), sang the recently released “Penhasco2”, a performance between her and the 30yearold American singer.
“I would like to introduce my new friend who just released her album,” Demi said before welcoming the Brazilian to the stage.

As was the case then, the live versions of the latest songs recalled the captivating Disney rock from the beginning of her career, heard in “Don’t Forget,” the title track from her 2008 debut album. Demi has already told it g1 sees the “parts of her and who she is today” in the song and video for this beautiful ballad that began with piano and ended with guitars. “To be honest, it’s the song I enjoy most live.”
In fact, “Don’t Forget” is still one of the best parts of the setlist. It, “La la land” and “Cool for the Summer” (the last of the show) receive heavier versions than the originals, which already had some weight.
Since they were hits from the audience’s childhood, the songs from the beginning of her career were among the most sung. They reminded some of 17yearold Demi, who wore an AC/DC shirt while opening shows for the Jonas Brothers in Brazil in 2009. Since then, the talented Demetria’s shows have had their weight, but nothing compares to the current phase.
Two other points made the show at The Town even better than the one at Rock in Rio: the absence of the gentle cover of “Iris” (by Goo Goo Dolls) and a better and more powerful sound than Palco Mundo’s Older Brother in the City. In 2022, Demi played one of the best shows at Rock in Rio. So far she has put on one of the best shows at this new festival.
