Thousands of demonstrators took to the streets this Saturday (28) in cities across Europe, the Middle East, Asia and the United States to show their support for the Palestinians and demand an end to the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip.
The acts come at a time when Israel is intensifying its operation against Hamas and deploying military personnel in the Palestinian territory, which has had no internet signal since Friday (27) and is isolated from the rest of the world.
In Gaza, an area controlled by Hamas, 8,000 people have died since the conflict began on October 7, according to the Health Ministry. However, these figures have not been verified by independent organizations. On the Israeli side, there are around 1,400 dead and 229 hostages held by Hamas.
In one of the largest marches in London, aerial images showed large crowds through the center of the capital demanding a ceasefire from Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s government.
Echoing Washington’s stance, Sunak’s government refrained from calling for a ceasefire, instead favoring humanitarian pauses to allow aid to reach the people of Gaza.
