Marie-Claude Barrette can hardly believe that the energetic journalist and author has left us. “I draw from Denise Bombardier that you can be whatever you want in life. We always try to create boxes, but she didn’t have any, she was many things at the same time,” explains the podcast host open your game.

The moderator describes Denise Bombardier as an intellectual, epicurean and great lover “of life and of her husband”. A woman with a beautiful madness, who was the same in public and in private, who was whole and surpassed all stereotypes that one can have of a scholar.

big lover
Marie-Claude Barrette visited Mrs. Bombardier in Florida, where she spent much time with her husband James Jackson and artist friends such as Denise Robert, Denys Arcand, Dominique Michel and Denise Filiatrault.
“I saw her bathing with the man she loves. They were beautiful to look at. She had it in her skin, this man. Denise was really a great lover of her husband, her son and her granddaughter,” says the presenter in a telephone interview with Le Journal.
The last time Marie-Claude Barrette saw Denise Bombardier on television was on the program Le monde à l’envers with Stéphan Bureau.
“I couldn’t overcome his energy. It’s heartening to see women so fit at 82. We want to live like Denise Bombardier: free and in our own way.”
“I keep this freedom to be, before everyone else, who I really am – and that’s my purpose in life.” I think Denise embodied that. “There weren’t multiple Denises,” she adds.

Strong woman
“For me, Denise was a feminist, a woman who supposedly defended women,” the presenter continues. She had many beliefs and when she believed in something, she stuck to it no matter what people thought. I found her strong because it’s not easy to live with the reaction of others to her words.
According to her, we were responding to Denise Bombardier’s comments; Affirmations that the personality has fully embraced. “It was inspiring to see a woman of that age, from another time, so strong.”
“She came to affirm that if you have beliefs and you have good reasons for them, you can confront anyone. Because there is a difference between wanting to provoke and having convictions. I remember she wasn’t looking for unanimity,” continues the one, who says she’s willing to do it even if she believes in something.
