Dennis Schröder stunned by Lakers’ trade during live stream: ‘Oh no, fuck it no’

The Los Angeles Lakers made a big deal with the Washington Wizards Monday, sending Kendrick Nunn and three second-round picks for former first-rounder Rui Hachimura.

As trade dropped, we got the first reaction from a Lakers player.

Dennis Schröder was livestreaming when one of his viewers asked what he thought of the swap for Hachimura.

He had no idea what the viewer was talking about (this video link contains NSFW language).

“What trade? Rui? Oh no, damn no,” said a stunned Schröder. “Rui for Kendrick Nunn? Oh my god I have to write Rui. I have to write Kendrick Nunn.”

Schröder got up from his chair, apparently to get his cell phone. When he came back he was still in shock.

However, he understands the nature of the game.

“This is crazy, man. The NBA is a business – crazy,” he said.

“We are excited to welcome Rui and his family to the Los Angeles Lakers,” Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka said in a statement. “Adding both size and depth to wing position was a goal and the chance to achieve that by winning a player with Rui’s two-way skills and the advantage was an opportunity that doesn’t come along often. We want to thank Kendrick Nunn and his family for his time as a Laker and wish him all the best in the future.”

The Wizards selected Hachimura ninth overall from Gonzaga in the 2019 NBA draft, and he was named to the all-rookie team after averaging 13.5 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game for Washington.

However, since the Wizards failed to sign him for a rookie extension before the start of the season, there were rumors that they could buy him. The rumors turned out to be true.

“I just want to be somewhere that wants me to be a basketball player,” Hachimura said last week. “And I want to be in a place that likes my game. … I just want to be in a place that believes in me and I can be myself. That is my goal.”
